A man has died after the car he was driving plunged into the sea from the port pier in Salamina.
The coast guard said the man, the only person in the vehicle, was immediately taken by ambulance to the Salamina health center, where he was pronounced dead.
Divers searched the sunken car for additional occupants but found none.
The vehicle was raised from the water with the help of a crane. The coastal ferry connection, temporarily suspended during the operation, is expected to resume.
The coast guard is investigating the incident, collecting testimonies and evidence to determine how the vehicle ended up in the sea.
