Liverpool sank to a new low for the season as they were comfortably beaten 3-0 at home by relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest.
Another game, another defeat.
Liverpool’s brief renaissance against Aston Villa and Real Madrid are now firmly forgotten after consecutive 3-0 defeats to Man City and Forest.
The Reds had 75 percent of possession but failed to make any sort of impact with it, usually reverting to hopeful crosses from wide positions which were invariably headed away by the opposition’s tall defenders.
Alexander Isak started and had just 15 touches, according to FotMob, fewer than any other starting player.
The Swede’s problems were far from the only issues facing Liverpool, though, who showed little improvement on past beatings.
Still not sure what the plan is with Isak. Expecting him to score goals when he’s got next to no service and having him drop deep to just get involved is not why Liverpool bought him.

“I think the tone was set from the team selection. Szoboszlai at RB? The best midfielder in the league this season.
“Gomez was fit. Isak hasn’t kicked a ball in weeks. Ekitike scored for France. Why did Isak start?” – John Gardner on Facebook
We’ve spent £125m on a striker and none of the team are creating or giving the ball to him, and it’s unfair on Isak. Never seen a player so isolated.

“Only a great manager can turn this team around. We got quality players for sure plus maybe a January centre back signing is key to save this season.
“Does Slot have the capacity to turn this team around back to winning ways? It’s not looking great for him” – Janssen Cruz on Facebook
Arne Slot has had so much to deal with this year, including injuries, turnover, and of course tragedy in the summer. But it’s late November and Liverpool have just suffered an eighth defeat in 11 games by deservedly losing 3-0 at home to 19th in the PL. How many more can he lose?

“Arne Slot, this one is on you and at least two others that we have lost starting with the game against Chelsea and United.
“In all these games, you chose to field an out of form player(s) when we had options raring to go.
“There is absolutely no need to start Isak ahead of Hugo. None at all. Isak did not have a pre-season. Hugo did” – The Main Man in the This is Anfield comments
Ended up being a bad one, that. Total head loss after conceding first. So fragile on the mental side.

“Pretty much followed the Slot blueprint. Bad or weird selections followed by constant in-game upheaval to compensate. Rinse and repeat” – Jim Bohenan in the This is Anfield comments
Not at Anfield today but Ekitike on for Konate at 2-0 sums up the entire season. Load up on attackers, send the team’s structure to the wall and watch as it gets worse. What is the actual pre-match plan for these players? They seem surprised when the other team also wants to win.

The bottom line is i just don’t think Slot currently knows how to get the best out of a big squad full of talented players
The tactics are slow and disjointed and his selections aren’t enabling any understandings to be developed.
Question is, can he work it out?
Thoughts?

No excuses for a performance like that Poor in final third. No identity. Fragile defensively. Didn’t see anything in terms of a response when 2-0 down.

Worst part about then whole half is we actually played well, created chances. But every time a team attacks us we’re about as solid as wet tissue paper.
I’m not even angry anymore, just want it over.

I like to think I’m one of the least knee-jerk fans when it comes to being too harsh on managers, new signings, etc, but you have to wonder if Slot’s the right man now.
This is an absolute shambles. Six defeats out of 12 for the champions!

Slot did a fantastic job last season and deserves a lot of credit for that.
But he doesn’t seem to have a handle on things this year. Trusts only a core of players, team lacks fluidity and unable to change games.
This is relegation form.

Whether Isak or Ekitike should have started is just one conundrum facing Slot who is making the same mistake too many times.
There are definitely mitigating circumstances around this season and any call for change at managerial level must be heedful of this.
They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Well Liverpool are getting the same result repeatedly at the moment: defeat.
