Icy cold temperatures and frost have made way for milder but wet and windy conditions which will land in the capital this evening, with some rainfall being heavy and thundery

Dublin is in for some milder weather this weekend when it comes to temperatures, after a very cold and frosty week.
However, rainy and windy conditions are set to impact the capital. While other counties face weather warnings for rain and wind, Dublin is so far in the clear, though will experience widespread rain.
Moving across the weekend, it will be a mixed bag of weather, with sunny spells and scattered showers. On Saturday, it will be mostly dry and bright, with isolated showers of rain.
Cloud will increase again in the evening. It will be milder than recent days, with highest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees.
Wet and blustery tonight with widespread outbreaks of rain, turning heavy or thundery in places. Clearer showery conditions following by morning. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 5 degrees overnight.
Moving into Sunday, it will start off bright, but showers or longer spells of rain will develop over the day. Winds will increase strong to near gale force westerly, moderating and turning more northwest in the evening. Highest temperatures of 7 or 8 degrees.
There is a a status yellow weather warning in place for a number of counties for rainfall. The impacted counties are Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo.
They can expect h eavy or thundery rain with some hail showers too. The impacts include spot flooding and difficult travelling conditions.

The weather warning is in place from 9pm on Saturday to 9pm on Sunday.
There is a separate status yellow wind warning for Clare, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo starting at 6am on Sunday morning. The weather alert is in place until 2pm on Sunday afternoon.
“Very strong and gusty” winds may bring with them hazardous travel conditions, with fallen trees is possible. A separate wind warning has been issued for Wicklow, which will come into effect at 10am on Sunday and will remain in place until 5pm tomorrow evening.
