The civil defence in Gaza warned that the population is expected to face “heavy rain and strong winds” amid a lack of basic necessities and continuing suffering from the effects of war.

In a press release issued by the General Directorate of Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, it said it has mobilised its teams and limited resources to address the “negative impacts of this storm”, particularly for displaced families.

It added that the fuel crisis has resurfaced, urging international organisations to intervene and allow fuel aid into the strip.

“Ignoring this urgent intervention will only worsen the suffering of citizens, particularly in the camps, and will leave them vulnerable to flooding from rainwater and potentially even from high tides,” it said, adding that the fuel crisis can also impact the recovery of bodies remaining underneath the rubble.
