Police in Northern Ireland have issued an urgent appeal to the public after a teenage girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in south Belfast on Saturday night.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) received a report at around 9.30pm on Saturday, November 22, of a teenager who had been approached by an unknown male while waiting for the bus in the Adelaide Street area of the city with her friends.

According to PSNI Sergeant Ashe, the man then groped the girl and made sexual comments towards her.

The suspect is described as approximately mid 40’s, heavy build, bald with a black beard, wearing a beige jacket with pockets and blue jeans.

An investigation into the alleged sexual assault is underway and police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed or has information in relation to the incident to come forward.

“We would appeal to anyone who was in the Adelaide Street area of Belfast between 8:30pm and 9.45pm on Saturday and saw anything suspicious, or who might have information which could assist with our investigation, to contact us on the 101 number, quoting reference 785 of 10/11/25,” Sergeant Ashe said in a statement.
