Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a fatal road traffic collision on the R448 at Sallypark in Waterford early this morning.
A car struck a pedestrian shortly before 2:10am, and Gardaí and emergency services arrived at the scene moments later. The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, died at the scene. The Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem will take place in due course.
The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was not injured.
Gardaí have closed the R448 from Rice’s Bridge to the New Rath Road roundabout, and diversions are in place. Forensic Collision Investigators are examining the scene.
They are asking anyone who saw the incident, or who has camera or dash-cam footage from the area between 1:30am and 2:15am, to contact them.
