Thieves left an unusual deposit at an Etobicoke bank while attempting an illegal withdrawal Monday morning.

Around 3 a.m., officers were called to a break and enter in progress at a CIBC branch, Toronto police said in an email. They found that someone had used a backhoe to break through the bank’s exterior wall into the ATM room.

No injuries were reported and no one is in custody, police said. They did not provide details about possible suspects or what was stolen.

Toronto police are investigating the incident as a break and enter, and will provide any further updates via news release.
