The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas spoke with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, following his announcement that Britain will recognize a Palestinian state in September if Israel does not act to change the situation in the Gaza Strip. According to the report, during the conversation Starmer promised to provide urgent humanitarian aid, evacuate injured children for medical treatment in Britain and work to resume UN operations in Gaza. In addition, Abbas was invited for an official visit to London.
