IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir spoke at a ceremony marking 52 years since the death of the first Prime Minister and Defense Minister, David Ben-Gurion, at Sde Boker Institute. The Chief of Staff said that “Today it is clear to us beyond any doubt – brave, purposeful and reality-changing leadership is needed. Leadership that both acknowledges failure and dares to lead change.” He added that “Command responsibility means rebuilding. This is the central essence of leadership.” According to him, “Every hour we commit – we will continue to fight, we will continue to improve, the IDF was born as the people’s army and it is a wonderful human mosaic.”
