A man was hospitalised following a collision with a car at a notorious pedestrian crossing in Ballybofey yesterday evening.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the collision at Main Street, outside the Bank of Ireland.
“The collision involving a car and a pedestrian occurred on the Main Street at approximately 7:25pm,” a garda spokesperson said.
“The pedestrian, a male in his 60s, was brought to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries”.
The crossing is one of a number installed in the Twin Towns in recent years. However, road users have complained they are unsafe due to lack of lighting and flashing beacons. This is a particular issue at the Bank of Ireland, where the main street and Glenfin Street meet.
