Tributes have poured in for a factory worker who died at the Tayto Plant in County Meath yesterday.
Mick Herron was an employee of an independent potato supplier and passed away following a fatal incident at the crisp-making facility in Ashbourne. A GoFundMe has been set up by locals to help in a “meaningful way”.
Senator Sharon Keogan was one of dozens to pay tribute and shared a link to the GoFundMe. The Senator said: “Each day brings uncertainty; Duleek faces further sorrow as the unthinkable has become a reality. We extend our deepest condolences to his wife Ann, his children Dylan and Sophie, and his extended family. I know the people of this town will wrap them up in love and kindness, not just over the next few days but always.”
The GoFundMe said: “The Herron family has experienced an unimaginable loss with the passing of their loving husband, father, brother, and friend. Their world has been forever changed, and many of us have been asking how we can help during such a heartbreaking time.
“Instead of sending flowers, we thought this could be a meaningful way for our community to come together and support them. Any contribution-big or small-will help lighten the load as they navigate the difficult days ahead. Your generosity, love, and prayers mean more than you know. Let’s surround the Herrons with the support they need and show them they’re not alone.”
The Health and Safety Authority are probing the incident, the Irish Mirror reports.
