Parts of the Greater Toronto Area are expected to see heavy snow beginning Saturday night, Environment Canada says.
Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill and the rest of York Region are under a yellow warning for snowfall, as is Durham Region, including Pickering, Oshawa, Whitby and Ajax.
A yellow warning, according to Environment Canada, means hazardous weather may cause damage, disruption or health impacts.
Those areas could see snowfall amounts near 10 centimetres, Environment Canada said, noting that 15 to 20 centimetres is possible over the higher terrain north of Lake Ontario.
“Travel will likely be challenging. Roads and walkways will likely be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Visibility will likely be reduced at times. Allow extra time for travel,” the advisory read.
Caledon and some parts of Halton Region, including Milton and Halton Hills.
Environment Canada said the snow is expected to taper off on Sunday afternoon.
There are no weather advisories for Toronto, but the city could still see snowfall amounts of two to four centimetres beginning at midnight.
On Sunday, snow will mix with rain before changing to showers in the morning, which will end late afternoon. The daytime high will be 4 C.
