A pilot has died after two planes crashed mid-air in southwest Sydney.

Two light planes collided mid-air before one of the planes crashed into nearby bush.

The body of a pilot, believed to be the sole occupant of the plane, was found by emergency services.

The other plane managed to
land safely at the airfield, and that pilot was not injured.

The fatal collision happened just before midday in the vicinity of Napperfield Airfield in Wedderburn, near Appin.
