On Saturday, November 29th, 2025, Michael died peacefully following the great care he received by the wonderful staff at the Galway Hospice, comforted and supported by his much-loved family. Predeceased by his beloved parents JP and Kathleen and brother Pauric.

Deeply mourned by his devoted wife Rosemary, sons David and Aidan and daughters Colette and Lisa. Sadly missed also by his brothers Seamus and John, sisters Sr. Marie Thérèse (Maureen) (Poor Clare Monastery, Carlow) and Elizabeth O’Brien (Dublin), daughter-in-law Lisa, sons-in-law Michael and Graham, adored grandchildren Shane, Shay, Finn, Max, Georgia, Fiadh and Isla, all of whom he was immensely proud of.

Fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law Pauline and Kathleen, nephews and nieces, the extended Coughlan family and neighbours, colleagues, patients and dear friends.

Funeral arrangements:

Tuesday 2nd December 2025

Reposing at the O’ Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue (H91V1K8) from 5.30 p.m. to 7 p.m. No Removal to the Church this evening.

 

Wednesday 3rd December 2025

Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Michael on arrival at St. Mary’s Church, Claddagh at 11.00 a.m. Following Mass he will be laid to rest in Rahoon cemetery. Mass will be livestreamed. Link below.

 

 

No Flowers please. Memorial donations if desired will be gratefully accepted by the Galway Hospice.

Parking and entrance to the funeral parlour.

Please approach the funeral parlour entrance on foot from Fr. Burke Park. Street parking may be available on Fr. Griffin Road, within Claddagh, on Henry Street and Sea Road. Parking may be scarce on Munster Avenue.

 

Car Parks within walking distance of the parlour: The Claddagh Church, Spanish Arch and Mill Street which is adjacent to the Garda Station.
