Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee has thanked the people around him at the club for getting him through a goalless period.
The Dutchman ended a wait of almost eight months for a goal when he scored the equaliser in the Premier League victory against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.
It was his first goal since April, when he scored against Lyon in the Europa League. His most recent Premier League goal had come almost a year ago.
The strike started the turnaround for United, who came from behind to take all three points from the game. The win moves Ruben Amorim’s side up above their opponents in the Premier League table and into sixth place.
Speaking to TNT Sport after full-time, Zirkzee expressed his delight at both the goal and the win.

“A great feeling, you know, it’s always a good feeling to score but most importantly it got us back into the game, this guy (Mount) scored a pretty good goal after as well,” he said.
“It was all about the three points today, just very happy that we got them, very important.
When asked about the pressure of going without a goal while playing for United he said: “It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world and you have to perform, so if you don’t score for a long time then it can get to you.
“But I’m surrounded by great players, great people and we help each other every day and they made it quite easy for me.
“Today is just a reward I think for patience, hard work and trying to be consistent and I’m just thankful to the manager as well, staff, everyone. A good environment.”
Midfielder Mason Mount was also on the scoresheet, scoring what turned out to be the winning goal from a free kick. He also praised the character the squad showed to turn the game around.

“We’ve not found it easy away from home this season, obviously a very difficult result last game (a 1-0 loss vs Everton), so we know we needed to bounce back and that’s what we spoke about before the game,” he said.
“I think we showed good character to come back from 1-0 down in the first half. It was about reacting in the changing room in the second half. I thought we came out and we were really good. We were at it.”
Mount added: “I’m feeling good, the win was massive today but also for me to play the full game, I haven’t done that in a while. I’ve been feeling really good recently, no problems, I’m enjoying my football and when you have days like this in front of the fans like this it makes it all worth it.”
