Greater Manchester is expected to see “heavy rain” and “disruption” on Monday (December 1) as the Met Office has issued several weather warnings affecting parts of the UK.
It comes after an overnight warning for ice affected parts of North West England including Greater Manchester, as well as Yorkshire and Humber, North East England, East Midlands and West Midlands. This warning came into affect at 10pm on Saturday evening (November 29) and was lifted at 9am on Sunday morning (November 30).
No more warnings remain in place on Sunday across the country, however in the early hours of Monday morning, three new weather warnings for rain are coming into affect.
At 12am on Monday (December 1), two yellow and one amber weather warnings for rain are set to come into affect affecting parts of the UK including Greater Manchester and the rest of North West England, as well as parts of Wales, South West England, and London and South East England.

The warning affecting Greater Manchester will remain in place throughout the day on Monday as “heavy rain” could bring disruption, eventually being lifted at 3am on Tuesday morning (December 2).
Met Office’s warning reads: “Heavy rain could bring some disruption on Monday and early Tuesday,” and further description reads: “An area of heavy rain will move steadily east across the area during Monday. Whilst the rain may ease for a time during the afternoon across Cumbria, another pulse of heavy rain is possible here during the evening and overnight, with all rain eventually clearing early Tuesday morning.
“20-40 mm of rain is likely to fall quite widely across the warning area, but higher ground could see 50-80 mm, with perhaps nearer 100-120 mm in a few places over the Cumbrian fells. Strong south to southwesterly winds will also accompany the heavy rain, with gales possible around coasts and over high ground.”

A more severe amber weather warning for rain is in place across parts of Wales including Swansea, Cardiff and Newport from 12am on Monday until 11:59pm the same day. The Met Office has warned of “probable flooding” in the affected areas.
