A service of removal for Vanessa Whyte and her two children, who were murdered in their Co Fermanagh home, will take place in the village of Maguiresbridge today.

Ms Whyte, 45, her son 14-year-old James Rutledge and 13-year-old daughter Sara Rutledge died in a shooting at a property on the Drummeer Road last week.

The service is being held in St Mary’s Church in Maguiresbridge before their bodies are brought to Co Clare, where a funeral mass will take place this weekend.

Ms Whyte and her children will lie in repose in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Barefield on Friday.

Their funeral mass will be then held on Saturday before they are buried together in Templemaley Cemetery.

Those attending the funeral mass have been asked to wear bright colours.

People have also been asked to make donations to Women’s Aid.

Funeral arrangements for Ms Whyte and her two children were announced in a social media post.

The post from the funeral directors said: “Vanessa was a devoted mother, a loving and beloved daughter and sister and a loving and beloved daughter-in-law and sister-in-law.”

It said James was a “much-loved son, brother, and grandson” and Sara “was a dearly loved daughter, sister, and granddaughter”.

A man suspected of killing Ms Whyte and her children died in hospital on Monday evening.

Ian Rutledge, 43, had been in hospital in a serious condition following the shooting.

It is understood the agricultural contractor is the only suspect in the shooting of his family.

Last week, police had said a triple murder and attempted suicide was a line of inquiry.
