Justin Hack appeared in court Sunday by video from Lambton OPP headquarters in Petrolia. Hack, who said little other than he was tired, was told he is charged with the second-degree murder of Kimberley Hack, the attempted murder of Thomas Organ, and two counts of assault with a weapon, a knife, on both Nancy and Peter Gosnek.

No publication ban was ordered during Sunday’s court appearance. The charges haven’t been tested in court.

Two OPP cruisers were still parked outside the home Monday morning.

A Lambton OPP spokesperson said Monday an update on the investigation is expected to be issued on Tuesday.

Hack, who was kept in custody Sunday, is scheduled to appear in Sarnia court Tuesday by video from jail. Before he left he was ordered not to talk to Organ, Nancy and Peter Gosnek, and Mary Lynn Triest.

This is the first homicide investigation in Sarnia-Lambton this year. It comes two days shy of the one-year anniversary of the death of a 22-year-old Lambton College international student from India, who police said was stabbed to death in a house he lived in with other tenants on Queen Street. Another tenant was charged with second-degree murder.
