Mr Goddard, who last year bought out Davy’s real estate investment arm, has now inked a number of deals since the beginning of this year through his Lanthorn entity.
The Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel has been acquired by Lanthorn on behalf of TMR Hotel Collection. Owned by Austrian investor Thomas Roggla, TMR has about 2,000 hotel rooms in Ireland.
The Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel has 118 bedrooms and the sale was being pitched to include an adjacent multi-storey carpark.
It was part of a sale of two properties being handled by JLL and dubbed Project Abbey.
The other property included in the sales process was the Absolute Hotel in Limerick.
The Wexford-based Talbot Collection hotel group confirmed that it bought the Absolute Hotel last month for €18m. That expanded the group’s portfolio to seven hotels across six counties.
The four-star Abbey Hotel includes a swimming pool and gym with more than 1,000 members. The multi-storey car park adjacent to the property has 725 spaces and is one of the largest car parks in Kilkenny.
In the latest accounts for the hotel and the leisure centre operation, filed last month, the directors said that during 2024 the hotel had maintained a strong trading performance.
They said it was underpinned by “healthy occupancy levels, robust average daily rates and a diversified revenue mix across room bookings, food and beverage, conference and events, and leisure club services”.
Turnover at the firm behind the hotel and leisure centre edged 2pc higher to almost €8.7m.
However, its pre-tax profit jumped 65pc to €782,000.
The company listed its tangible fixed assets as being worth €6.2m at the end of 2024. Its net assets were €1.8m, with €5.2m in directors’ loans on the books.

Davy Real Estate was acquired last year by Mr Goddard and renamed Lanthorn. At the time of the purchase, the unit managed a €1.6bn property portfolio across office space, retail and hospitality.
Earlier this year, Lanthorn bought The Fleet Street Hotel in Dublin’s Temple Bar. The 103-bedroom hotel was also bought on behalf of TMR Hotel Collection.
Eimear Fox, a director of Lanthorn, said at the time that the purchase was part of the firm’s strategy to expand its presence within the Irish market and particularly in Dublin.
Patrick Coyle’s Windward Management manages the property.
