A 32-year-old man is dead after a shooting in Kitchener on Monday night.
Police say the man, who is from Kitchener, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the area of Century Hill Drive and Country Hill Drive after officers were called to the residential area around 10 p.m. Monday.
“We are continuing to seek suspects as well as any other additional information,” police spokesperson Cons. Melissa Quarrie told reporters at the scene Tuesday morning.
Quarrie later confirmed the man had been shot in a vehicle.
“Our major crimes unit do believe this was a targeted incident,” Quarrie said, adding the shooting is also believed to be connected with organized crime in the area.
She said police will be in the area Tuesday for the investigation and to conduct forensic identification.
Quarrie said police will be canvassing the neighbourhood to speak to witnesses and for any video surveillance or dash-cam footage.
Century Hill Drive is expected to be closed between Old Country Drive and Bleams Road for much of the day for the investigation.
On Tuesday morning, a police cruiser was parked in the area and yellow police tape blocked off access to Century Hill Drive.
More police cruisers and an armoured vehicle were blocking the entrance on the other side of Century Hill Drive that intersects with Bleams Road.

Shaundra Gardiner has lived in the complex building across the street of the Century Hill Drive and Country Hill Drive intersection since 2019.
She said she saw a vehicle had hit a tree on Century Drive Monday night.
“I wasn’t able to see too much because at the time, police were surrounding the area,” she said. Fire trucks and an ambulance were also on the scene Monday night.
“I don’t feel safe where I live,” she told reporters Tuesday morning.
“There’s an increase of violence around our area and just police presence a lot and I hope this can change and we can come to a community and be safe.”
Gardiner said she also want to see more safety measures in her building, like additional cameras on site and allowing residents to set up their own security cameras.
“We want to protect ourselves and our community,” she said.
Gardiner added she and her neighbours regularly check in with one another and talk about ways they can stay safe.
Anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has video footage of the area around the time of the shooting is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
