Emergency services have been called to the scene of two separate multiple-car collisions on the main Ennis to Limerick road.
It’s understood three cars were involved in a collision on the southbound lane of the N18 between junction 6 Bunratty and junction 5 Cratloe, near Ballymorris shortly before 8 o’clock this morning.
A separate road crash involving two vehicles happened further along the same stretch of road, heading towards Limerick.
Emergency services are attending the scene.
The road is being closed and diversions are in place.
There are reports of very heavy traffic in the area.
Motorists are advised to slow down and drive with care on approach.
