Liverpool avoided losing five of their last seven games at Anfield with the season’s first draw, but what concerned supporters most was the lack of intensity or energy throughout.

There was a platform, as small as it was, for Liverpool to build from over the weekend, but instead, they were left desperately to chase another match after conceding the first goal.

Florian Wirtz, who does not get the credit for the equaliser, offered the hope of a late winner, but Liverpool’s performance was not enough to warrant any more than that.

Arne Slot will inevitably point to his side mustering 23 shots compared to Sunderland‘s nine, but they were outfought in tackles (13-16) and duels (35-45).

The Reds were lethargic and without the intensity that has long defined the club, exacerbating the existing concerns of how Slot can plot his way out of the hole that has been dug.

While Sunderland deserve credit, Liverpool supporters could only point to the persisting issues…

horrible performance. topped off with a wirtz goal going down as an own goal. brilliant

So Sunday was another false dawn then. Once again, we moved away from a system that could’ve made sense. And it was by design too.

Im a glass half full kinda fella but it’s getting harder and harder to find any sort of positivity this season

The players regression, the tactics, the teamsheet, the intensity……. all down to Arne Slot

— Ricky (@RickyMann4) December 3, 2025

Relative to their level of talent, Liverpool are probably the worst coached team in Europe

Horrible in and out of possession, can’t press, can’t sustain anything. It’s a tactical mess and it’s not because all of the players have just magically become shit over the summer

Poor performance again. Didn’t deserve to win & we were actually fortunate to get a point at the end there. We look so unbalanced. Poor defensively and we don’t create enough clear cut chances. So slow on the ball as well.

“The eye test doesn’t lie, we knew West Ham wasn’t suddenly going to make us great, the game to watch was as much a struggle as we are struggling.

“When your proudest moment is a defensive action from an attacking player who is in form & mainly snubbed.” – Speelautomaat in TIA comments.

“We are a mid table team because we play as one. I have no idea why we are so pedestrian in the start of every game. To see Macca walking with the ball making passes to Ibou, VVD and back. I’m sick and tired of seeing it.” – A Red Swede in TIA comments.

This isn’t the Liverpool team I want to watch and I’m sure you agree. Win or lose here, the core principles I’ve seen us stick to for years and years aren’t visible. We’re playing with a lack of intensity and potency.

Just so flat. At home

Most of Klopps sides would batter us

That performance is so, so worrying. This team is broken, and it can’t be fixed without a transfer window. I just don’t know how we get to one.

Isak
Wirtz
Gakpo
Salah
Ekitike
Chiesa
Szoboszlai

All that fire power and creativity on the pitch and we created one opportunity which led to the own goal.

Dire.

Horribly coached team.

Arne Slot’s woes continues. This cannot continue…just 4 wins in last 14 matches. 8th in the PL Table…

If there is to be a light at the end of the tunnel, it is a very long journey to the end of it as so far Liverpool have yet to show they have the answers.

A trip to Leeds now beckons, who just recorded a 3-1 win over Chelsea.
