And that’s the tea break. First session points certainly go Australia’s way. The Jamie Smith drop aside, everything has been controlled by the Aussies, including Travis Head’s poor shot to hand his wicket over for 33.
Jake Weatherald has played with aggression and put himself in a great spot at 59 off 56. He’s certainly making the most of this opportunity and the batting conditions.
Marnus Labuschagne has also looked comfortable on his home turf at the Gabba. He’s 27 from 29.
Isa Guha says on Fox Cricket that “the only way back into this game for England” is to take advantage of the twilight and night bowling conditions to break the Aussies open when batting conditions become tougher.
But for now, the Aussies would be quite happy with how things have played out today.
“England would be very disappointed with how they executed,” Adam Gilchrist added.
