Actor, national treasure and proper geezer, Danny Dyer will be bringing his unmistakable charm, humour and compassion to CBeebies Bedtime Stories as he becomes the latest star to pick a bedtime story book.

Danny will remind viewers that real strength is showing how you really feel, as he reads Rhinos Don’t Cry by Mark Grist and illustrated by Chris Jevons, on Friday 5 December on CBeebies at 6.45pm. The story is a reassuring tale that encourages children to embrace their feelings and understand that it’s OK to cry.

Danny Dyer says: “When you’re having tricky feelings, you should try and let them out, because it can make you feel better. You might not think it, but everybody cries, even grown-ups, in fact, especially grown-ups. Someone may look big, or tough but they have the same big feelings that you do. Never judge a book by its cover.”

“Whether its big blubbery bursts or snivelly sobs, if you feel like you need to cry, belt it out loud and proud.”

Parents and carers can find more support on CBeebies Parenting, an online community where for the first time, CBeebies is bringing all its resources in one place from developing speech and language skills to potty training and, of course bedtime routines. CBeebies Parenting provides top tips, activity ideas, games, advice and content backed by trusted experts.

Danny Dyer’s CBeebies Bedtime Story airs Friday 5 December at 6.45pm on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer.
