An 18-year-old man is dead, and a male suspect is wanted following a late-night stabbing in Brampton on Thursday.

Police in Peel Region say the man was located with stab wounds in the McMurchy Avenue and Pagebrook Court area around 10 p.m.

The man’s injuries were considered life-threatening, and police told 680 NewsRadio the victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Police told 680 NewsRadio that two males got into some type of argument that escalated into one being stabbed. The other male fled.

Police don’t know what sparked the fight or if the victim or suspect knew each other.

It’s unclear where exactly the stabbing occurred, but photos from the scene showed officers canvassing the outside of an apartment building, located at 440 McMurchy Avenue.

Speaking to reporters Friday morning, Peel police Cst. Tyler Bell-Morena says it’s unknown if the victim lived in the building.

Bell-Morena is also asking for any witnesses or anyone with footage to come forward.

“We’ve ascertained there are cameras present, I don’t know if they actually retained the footage yet, that’s going to be something we’re very interested in obtaining,” Bell-Morena said.

The investigation is ongoing.
