The 2026 World Cup groups have been finalized, and Canada will play Qatar, Switzerland, and either Italy, Northern Ireland, Wales or Bosnia and Herzegovina in Group B.
But who will play in Toronto? The city is expected to host six matches at BMO Field, which will be called the Toronto Stadium during the World Cup.
FIFA is scheduled to announce which teams are playing in each stadium on Saturday. Here’s a look at which countries could take the pitch in Toronto.
June 12
Canada will open its FIFA campaign on June 12 against the winner of the European Play-off Path A.

Italy, Northern Ireland, Wales and Bosnia and Herzegovina will play in the playoff tournament in March to determine which will face the Canadian men’s national soccer team, led by Alphonso Davies, in the World Cup.
Canada’s two other group matches will be played in Vancouver on June 18 and June 24 at BC Place.
Italy, which has won four World Cups, most recently in 2006, is looking to play in the sport’s biggest tournament for the first time since 2014. Italy failed to qualify in 2018 and 2022.
June 17
The next match in the city will come from Group L, which features England, Croatia, Ghana and Panama.
Fourth-ranked England, which hoisted the golden trophy in 1966, punched its ticket to the World Cup after winning its group during qualifications.

Croatia finished third at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and is ranked 10th in the world.
June 20
Toronto soccer fans will get to see a Group E match next. In this group are the 2014 World Cup champions Germany, Curaçao, Cote d’Ivoire and Ecuador.
Germany, along with Italy, has the second-most World Cup wins with four.

Another Group L match will be played at Toronto Stadium.
June 26
The final group match in Toronto will feature two countries from Group I, which includes third-ranked and two-time World Cup champions France.
Group I features two of the best goal-scorers in the world as France and Norway headline a strong group that also includes Senegal and a FIFA Playoff winner.

Kylian Mbappe and the French men’s football team will be looking to avenge their World Cup loss in 2022. Argentina beat France in a penalty shootout.
Also in Group I is Norway, who is back in the World Cup for the first time in nearly three decades.

The Norwegian football team is led by superstar striker Erling Haaland. The Manchester City player scored the most goals in the World Cup qualifiers with 16.
Group I also features 19th-ranked Senegal and either Bolivia, Suriname or Iraq. Those three countries will have to fight for their World Cup ticket in a playoff tournament in March.
July 2
The final game at Toronto Stadium will be a Round of 32 match between the runner-up of Group K and the runner-up of Group L.
Group K is composed of Portugal, Uzbekistan, Colombia and either New Caledonia, Jamaica or the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
