A West Australian man is set to face court today after he was charged with acting disorderly and obstructing a Commonwealth official at Perth Airport yesterday.
AFP officers responded to a request for assistance from an airline about a man allegedly causing a disturbance in a domestic terminal at Perth Airport yesterday.
When the man was approached by officers, he allegedly became belligerent and aggressive and was later arrested.
AFP Superintendent Peter Hatch has said that the AFP was committed to protecting the safety of the public and airline staff.
“The AFP does not tolerate antisocial or aggressive behaviour towards members of the public or police officers, and we work closely with partners in the airline industry to intervene and put people before the courts if their behaviour is allegedly unlawful,” Hatch said.
The man allegedly repeatedly grabbed AFP officers’ wrists while they attempted to search him and allegedly behaved in a threatening manner towards them.
He was later charged with disorderly conduct in a public place and one count of obstructing a Commonwealth official.
The man is set to face the Perth Magistrates Court.
