Gardaí in Kerry are investigating all of the circumstances following the unexplained death of a man in the village of Kilgarvan in the early hours of Wednesday morning, July 30
At approximately 4am, Gardaí were notified of a male, aged in his 70s, that had been brought to University Hospital Kerry in Tralee having earlier been found unresponsive outside a premises on Church Street in Kilgarvan.
He was subsequently pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The State Pathologist and the local coroner have been notified and a post-mortem examination has been arranged.
Gardaí have said the outcome of which will determine the course of the investigation.
The scene has been preserved by gardaí.
The man is understood to be living in the locality.
TD Danny Healy-Rae, who is from Kilgarvan, said there is ‘shock’ at the news of the tragedy.
“On top of all the other things this is another tragedy in the area,” he said.
“Gardaí are at the scene and dealing with the incident and they will discover what happened.”
