Simranpreet Kaur equalled the junior world record to win the women’s 25m pistol title at the ISSF World Cup Final 2025 in Doha on Sunday, while Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker ended her campaign empty-handed.

Two-time Olympian Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and 2018 Commonwealth Games champion Anish Bhanwala clinched silver medals in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions and 25m rapid fire pistol events, respectively.

It was a maiden ISSF World Cup Final medal for Simranpreet Kaur and  Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar.

Meanwhile, it was Anish’s second World Cup Final medal, an upgrade from the bronze he won at the same Lusail Shooting Complex two years back.

The 21-year-old Simranpreet Kaur topped the final with 41/50 hits, matching the junior world record set last year by the Republic of Korea’s Paris 2024 champion Yang Ji-in, who finished fourth in Doha.

People’s Republic of China’s Yao Qianxun finished second with 36/50, while Germany’s Doreen Vennekamp took bronze with 30/45. India’s Esha Singh also featured in the shooting final, finishing seventh with 15/25.

Manu Bhaker finished ninth in the qualifying round and could not progress to the final. She finished fifth in the women’s 10m air pistol final on Saturday and ended her campaign without a medal.

In the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions, Aishwary, the world championship silver medallist, pushed hard but eventually finished 0.9 points behind Czech shooter Jiri Privratsky, who fired a world record 414.2 in the new 40-shot final format.

Paris 2024 gold medallist Liu Yukun of the People’s Republic of China settled for bronze with 388.9.

Earlier in the qualification, Aishwary shot 595 to finish second behind China’s Tian Jiaming, who set the tone with a world-record 598.

India came close to another title in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol final, where Anish scored 31 hits behind China’s Olympic champion Li Yuehong, who clinched gold with 33. France’s Clément Bessaguet took bronze with 28, after losing a shoot-off. India’s Vijayveer Sidhu also reached the final and placed fourth with 21 hits.

Sift Kaur Samra in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions did not move beyond the qualification stage on the day, shooting 584 to finish 10th.

India have won six medals – two gold, three silvers and one bronze – at the ISSF World Cup Final 2025 in Doha so far.

India’s highlight earlier in the weekend came through a Suruchi Singh-Sainyam 1-2 finish in the women’s 10m air pistol. Samrat Rana, fresh from his world championship triumph in Cairo, added a bronze in the men’s 10m air pistol.

The Doha competition marks the final stop of the 2025 ISSF shooting season, with events continuing until December 8.
