A water main break in the area of Waverley Road on Saturday has resulted in a precautionary boil-water advisory for residents in several nearby communities.
In an alert issued early Sunday morning, Halifax Regional Municipality said residents living in areas including Waverley Road, Spider Lake, Montague Road, Keystone Village, Port Wallace, Montebello, Craigwood Estates and Avenue du Portage should boil their water as a precaution.

The advisory includes:
Customers who lost all water should boil water before use.
Customers with discoloured water should run taps until the water is clear; boiling is not required.
Customers with normal or low pressure do not need to take any action.
If unsure, boil water as a precaution.
Halifax Water recommends boiling water for at least one minute before using water for:
drinking
preparing infant formula
making ice cubes or juices
washing fruits or vegetables
cooking
brushing teeth
any other activity requiring human consumption
Waverley Road between Jaybe Drive and Breeze Drive is open to local traffic only as repair work continues. Traffic control personnel will be on site to manage vehicles through the area.
A comfort centre will be open from 2:30 to 8 pm at the East Dartmouth Community Centre for residents who have not yet had water service restored.
Washroom and shower facilities are also available at the following municipal recreation facilities:
Cole Harbour Place, 51 Forest Hills Parkway from 12 to 9 p.m.
Zatzman Sportsplex, 110 Wyse Road from 12 to 10 p.m.
