Residents are being stopped at the cordon, and those who live in the street are allowed to pass through.
Katie Pocock, assistant area commander Waitematā District, said Fire and Emergency responded to multiple 111 calls just after 1.30 pm.
“Crews transmitted a second alarm. The fire was contained quickly, and firefighters are working with police.
“Crews from Glen Eden, Avondale, Te Atatu, and Auckland City responded.
“The crew is now on stand-by, monitoring hotspots and continuing to work with police.”
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said they were called at 1.37pm and responded with an ambulance and rapid response vehicle.
