A status-yellow wind warning has been issued nationwide by Met Éireann.

The warning will come into effect at 3am on Tuesday morning, with the national forecaster also noting that flooding may be possible in low-lying areas.

They are anticipating very strong and gusty southerly winds, with gales possible near coasts.

There will be an increased risk of floods also, due to very high spring tide levels.

Met Éireann are also noting that the high winds may lead to difficult travel conditions, wave overtopping, debris and loose objects being displaced, and outdoor events potentially being impacted.

The weather warning is in place until 9pm on Tuesday night.

It also coincides with a similar warning for rain which is in place across much of the southern region between Monday night and Tuesday morning.
