Police are investigating after a person was found dead following a West Auckland house fire.

Emergency services were called to a house on Kohekohe St, New Lynn at 1.23pm yesterday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Megan Goldie said the cause of the fire remains undetermined “at this very early stage”.

An
autopsy was due to be done this morning, the results of which “will need to be considered alongside our other enquiries underway”, said Goldie.
