An infant is in a critical condition after a road collision in County Louth yesterday evening.

The two-car collision took place at approximately 8:20pm on the R132 at Dowdallshill.

GardaĆ­ have confirmed that the driver of the first car involved, a woman aged in her 20s, was transferred to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The infant, a boy, was the passenger in that car.

He was taken to the Children’s University Hospital at Temple Street in Dublin where he remains in a critical condition.

Two people from the second car involved, a man aged in his 50s and a teenage girl, were also taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

GardaĆ­ say their investigations into the crash are ongoing.
