Gardaí have confirmed that 18 cattle, which were stolen from a farm in Skibbereen over two weeks ago were recovered at a property in Ballydehob early this morning.

The cattle, valued at €30,000 and made up of 12 Friesan heifers and six Friesan bullocks, were stolen from from a holden pen on a farm owned by Brian Lawlor in the Lakelands area of Skibbereen between Sunday November 23rd and Monday November 204.

Gardaí confirmed to The Southern Star that gardaí from the Serious Crime Units in Clonakilty, Bandon and Bantry, supported by the Divisional Search team and the Department of Agriculture are conducting a search operation in the Ballydehob area today.

‘As part of ongoing investigations into an incident of theft of 18 cattle which occurred at a farm in the Laklelands area of Skibbereen on Monday November 24th. As a result of the searched the 18 cattle were identified,’ said a Garda spokesperson.

‘Searches remain ongoing at this time and no arrests have been made at this time.’
