Hollywood legend Diane Keaton’s death has prompted longtime rivals Jennifer Aniston and Sarah Jessica Parker to end their feud and make peace, sources tell Globe.
Both actresses idolized Diane and were devastated when she passed unexpectedly on Oct. 11, according to insiders.
“It’s kind of pathetic that it took Diane’s death for Sarah Jessica and Jen to take a second look at their own chilly relationship over the last 20-odd years and realize they have to get past their competition with each other,” says a source.
The actresses’ rivalry dates back to the late ’90s when they were two of the hottest stars on TV — Jen on Friends and SJP on Sex and the City. “After their TV shows ended, they were up for a lot of the same movie roles, which only added to the competition between them,” shares an insider.
“They both said catty things about each other and, of course, the gossip traveled.”

With Jen, 56, starring on The Morning Show and Sarah Jessica, 60, recently wrapping the SATC sequel series, And Just Like That …, they have continued to “jockey against each other for magazine covers, endorsement deals, social media hype and career success,” adds the insider.
But Diane’s death prompted an outpouring of affection from both ladies.

SJP, who starred with Diane in The Family Stone and The First Wives Club, wrote on Instagram: “I include myself among those who loved and admired her.” And Jen, who never worked with Diane, posted a picture of a young Diane on her Instagram Story, calling her a “legend.”
Adds an insider: “Jen and Sarah Jessica both saw Diane as a personal role model.
“With televised awards shows coming up, they’ll have the chance to come together, in person, and say their piece about this woman they admired so much.”
“The best way to honor Diane would be for them to speak from the heart, together, about what Diane really meant to them. They’ll never again have an opportunity like it.”
