These neighbours have indicated that they intend to make formal complaints about both noise and road conditions – this is causing us a lot of worry

Query: We are farming in the west of Ireland and have recently run into difficulties with a new neighbour regarding noise and general farm activity. Many years ago, we sold several sites along the road beside our yard. All the original buyers were local people who understood the nature of farming and rural life, and we never had a moment’s bother with any of them.

However, one of these houses was sold on about two years ago. Since then, we have had continuous trouble from the new owners. They complain about almost every aspect of normal farm operations. In particular, during silage season, they were extremely vocal about the noise from tractors entering and exiting the yard from early morning to late at night.
