Match reports
Time to sign off – I’ll leave you with our match reports. Thanks for joining me. Goodnight!
Some Chelsea reaction, starting with the manager:
Enzo Maresca: “First half we were winning, controlling the game but we conceded two easy goals in a short time. After conceding the first goal, we lost a bit of control. Playing every few days, in those moments we struggle … I think we tried to be aggressive, and we had chances to score again.”
João Pedro: “We are disappointed … we scored first, but in the Champions League if you give chances to the other team, they will punish you. We need to learn, and be ready for the next game.”
“Monaco haven’t been bad, exactly, in Ligue 1, but they’ve been meh,” writes Kari Tulinius. “Somehow they’ve turned that lack of pizzazz into a strength in Europe, and are turning a piffle of a season into something more memorable.”
On a similar theme, Pete Mumola writes: “Atalanta love Europe. They have four wins in six Champions League games, exceeding the three they have racked up in 14 Serie A matches this season.”
Which Champions League games remain for the English sides who were in action tonight? Let’s take a look …
Liverpool (12pts) Marseille (A), Qarabag (H).
Tottenham (11pts) Dortmund (H), Frankfurt (A).
Chelsea (10pts) Pafos (H), Napoli (A).
Here’s Thomas Frank: “We got the job done, it’s never easy but we got the result. Now we build on winning two games at home, two clean sheets … there are things we’d like to do even better, a bit of sharpness, the final pass. We kept a high intensity.
“There’s a reason we signed Xavi, we think he’s a very good player,” the Tottenham manager adds. “We like the deep runs, turns, the way he beats a man. Now, we have four days off, time to reset physically and mentally [before Nottingham Forest].”

Women’s Champions League: Arsenal held on after Beth Mead’s early goal for a welcome win over FC Twente; Sophie Downey was there.
ShareFull time: Inter 0-1 Liverpool
Liverpool ride out of San Siro with all three points, Dominik Szoboszlai’s late penalty giving them the edge in a tight game short of big chances.

Monaco 1-0 Galatasaray
PSV 2-3 Atlético Madrid

ShareFull time: Barcelona 2-1 Eintracht Frankfurt
After a terrible first half, Barcelona were much better after the break with Marcus Rashford on the pitch. He set up Jules Koundé’s leveller, and the centre-back added a second header from Lamine Yamal’s cross.

Full time: PSV 2-3 Atlético Madrid
Atlético climb into the top eight after a clinical performance, seeing out plenty of pressure before pouncing with goals from Alvarez, Hancko and Sorloth.
ShareFull time: Union SG 2-3 Marseille
Marseille hold on after late pressure from the hosts, who took the lead before two Mason Greenwood goals turned the game around.
ShareFull time: Monaco 1-0 Galatasaray
A welcome win for Monaco as they climb into mid-table, level with tonight’s opponents, after Folarin Balogun’s second-half goal.
ShareFull time: Atalanta 2-1 Chelsea
Spurs move above Chelsea in the Champions League table after slumping to defeat despite leading through João Pedro at the break. Atalanta, who turned things around in style through Scamacca and De Ketelaere, are up to third in the table.
ShareFull time: Tottenham 3-0 Slavia Prague
Spurs get the job done, two penalties – converted by Mohamed Kudus and Xavi Simons – and an own goal sealing a confidence-boosting home win for Thomas Frank.
Chelsea are pushing for an equaliser, but it may be too little, too late as the clock ticks down in Bergamo. Joao Pedro has a late chance, but his snap shot is well saved by Marco Carnesecchi!
ShareGOAL! Inter 0-1 Liverpool (Szoboszlai pen 87′)
Ooof. Liverpool earn what sounds like a soft penalty late on – and Dominik Szoboszlai steps up to surely earn Arne Slot a welcome three points.
Big late goals in the Football League! Poor old Sheffield Wednesday concede a 97th-minute equaliser to Watford, while Birmingham grab a point at QPR. In League One, leaders Cardiff nick a late goal at Stevenage – and in League Two, Notts County edge MK Dons 3-2 while Swindon lose 1-0 at home to Cheltenham.
Barcelona have dominated the second half, with Eintracht’s rowdy fans causing more issues than their team. A late free kick offers the Bundesliga boys a chance, but the delivery floats into Joan Garcia’s hands.
Marseille’s high line is exposed again because they will not learn, and Promise David slides the ball home – but wait, the flag has rescued Roberto De Zerbi’s side again! To add to the indignity, David is booked for taking his shirt off, celebrating a goal that didn’t count.
It’s still Inter 0-0 Liverpool at San Siro; Rob Smyth is watching.
ShareGOAL! PSV 2-3 Atlético (Pepi 85′)
It’s not over (not over, not over) yet in Eindhoven, as Ricardo Pepi smashes home Ivan Perisic’s cross to cut Atlético’s lead.
ShareGOAL! Atalanta 2-1 Chelsea (De Ketelaere 83′)
If Chelsea were playing not to lose, it hasn’t worked. Charles De Ketelaere, Atalanta’s brightest spark in the second half, is given too much space and his deflected effort beats Sanchez at the near post! That’s such a poor goal to concede.

Are Chelsea settling for a draw? There hasn’t been much ambition from the visitors in the second half, and they’re currently focusing on keeping Atalanta at arm’s length.
Monaco miss a chance to double their lead, Lamine Camara firing over after a flowing team move. It’s still 1-0 to the hosts against Galatasaray.
ShareGOAL! Tottenham 3-0 Slavia Prague (Simons pen 79′)
Stanek gets a hand to Simons’ spot kick down to his left, but can’t stop the ball from sneaking into the corner. Game well and truly over!

Penalty to Spurs!
A second spot-kick for Tottenham as Xavi Simons is brought down by Igoh Ogbu in the area. Simons will take it himself, after pleading his case to captain Cristian Romero.

Having come on at half-time, Wesley Fofana has to go off after getting an unintentional boot to the face from Scamacca. He’s replaced by Tosin Adarabioyo.
A let off for Marseille: Union Saint-Gilloise think they’re level, Kevin Mac Allister left home alone at the near post and squeezing the ball home – but VAR intervenes and rules the defender offside.
Changes for Chelsea: Malo Gusto and Alejandro Garnacho come on for Enzo and Pedro Neto, while goalscorer Scamacca is replaced by Nikola Kristovic for Atalanta.
Bad news for Ryan Mason’s in-laws: West Brom have pulled it back to 3-2 down at St Mary’s. Promotion-chasers Middlesbrough still lead at Charlton, but the hosts have a goal back; it’s 2-1 to Boro.
ShareGOAL! Union SG 2-3 Marseille (Khalaili 71′)
A second goal of the night for Anan Khalaili, who chests the ball down after Rulli flaps at it, then rifles his shot inside the far corner. Game on!

GOAL! Monaco 1-0 Galatasaray (Balogun 68′)
That’s a relief. The floodgates surely open in Monaco, with Folarin Balogun turning home after a goalmouth scramble. It came from a corner and new Galatasaray keeper Guvenc, on for the injured Cakir, did not look prepared.

Championship leaders Coventry went ahead at 10-man Preston, but Daniel Jebbison has just levelled for the hosts. Elsewhere it’s Blackburn 1-1 Oxford, Sheffield Utd 1-1 Norwich and Swansea 1-0 Portsmouth.
Atalanta 1-1 Chelsea: Sanchez shakily prods away a cross as Atalanta continue to apply pressure. Spurs, meanwhile, are comfortable and Kudus has been replaced by Tel. Can the hosts give the home fans a little more to shout about?
Eight goals across seven games in the first half; seven already in the second half. Inter v Liverpool is still goalless, as is Monaco v Galatasaray, of course.
ShareBarcelona 2-1 Eintracht Frankfurt (Koundé 53′)
Jules Koundé in the Lilian Thuram role for Barça tonight; it’s another header, this time from Lamine Yamal’s swirling cross to the far post.
ShareGOAL! Atalanta 1-1 Chelsea (Scamacca 55′)
They’ve been pushing since the restart, and Atalanta have their reward! It’s forgotten West Ham man Gianluca Scamacca who heads home from De Ketelaere’s pinpoint cross.
