A man was shot and killed in the city’s southeast Wednesday morning and police have closed an area school for the day.
Investigators were called to the area of 69 Avenue and 20 Street SE around 12:30 a.m. for reports of gunfire.
When they arrived, officers found a man’s body outside of his vehicle.
A short time later, a vehicle believed to be connected to the shooting was found abandoned.
One person has been arrested.
As a result, Almadina Charter Language Academy, an elementary school located at 1919 76 Avenue, has closed for the day.
This is due to its proximity to the scene.
Parents have been advised as such by school administration.
Traffic in the area of the incident is expected to be impacted this morning due to scene processing.
A short time after the first arrest, police got a call about a suspicious person from a resident in the community of Palliser.
