A drenching weather system over western Washington has pushed many local rivers to flood stage. Here are the ones we’re watching right now.

WASHINGTON, USA — Rivers around western Washington are flooding after inches of rain fell across the region in the first part of this week.

More rain is expected to come on Wednesday, prolonging river flooding and the impacts being felt in local communities.

An atmospheric river has parked over western Washington and northern Oregon, bringing an estimated six inches of rainfall in the lowlands through the end of this week, according to the National Weather Service. A majority of area rivers have reached Moderate or Major flood stage, and some rivers are expected to break flow records this week.

The NWS predicts record-level flooding, particularly along the Skagit and Snohomish rivers this week. Both rivers may overtop levees.

A Flood Watch is in effect for all of western Washington through Friday.

Some rivers are listed more than once because they have triggered flood warnings in multiple counties.
