A truck driver had a lucky escape yesterday afternoon after a large lorry dramatically overturned on a road in North Cork.

Emergency services responded to the accident shortly after 2 pm on Wednesday, rushing to the scene of the crash on the R522 near Doneraile. The road was closed for a time during the afternoon as a crane was used to move the rolled truck from the road. It was a lucky escape for the driver, who is understood to have been uninjured after such a scary incident.

A picture of the scene shows the large lorry on its side with its contents scattered out onto the rural road after the roof was damaged in the crash. The photograph was shared by the Doneraile for All community Facebook page to warn drivers to avoid the Killdorrery Road while emergency services dealt with the overturned truck. The vehicle has since been removed, and the road has reopened.

Gardaí confirmed to CorkBeo that no injuries were reported as a result of the incident and that the road was cleared by yesterday evening. A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí were alerted to a truck overturned on the R522 near Doneraile, Co. Cork that occurred shortly before 2:00pm this afternoon, Wednesday 10th December 2025. No injuries were reported. The incident has since been cleared.”
