Paramedics assessed the victim before transporting her to hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was later pronounced dead.
A woman in her 70s has died after she was struck by a vehicle in Scarborough on Thursday morning, Toronto police say.
Emergency crews were called to the area of Homestead Road and Coronation Drive just after 8:20 a.m. for reports of a pedestrian struck.
Police say the driver remained at the scene.

Speaking to reporters, Duty Inspt. Earl Watson said investigators are speaking to “various individuals” to get a determination of what occurred.
“We are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and has dash cam footage, or to local businesses with video surveillance to please contact the police, he said.”

As a result, Coronation Drive is closed from Shoreview Drive to Homestead Road as officers investigate.
Police are urging drivers to expect delays and find alternate routes.
