Gardaí have launched a homicide investigation into the death of toddler Daniel Aruebose, whose remains were found in Co Dublin.
Tomorrow would have marked Daniel’s eighth birthday.
On 17 September, gardaí recovered the human remains believed to belong to the child on wasteland in Donabate.
DNA analysis has since confirmed those remains belonged to be those of Daniel.
He had been missing for more than four years, since he was around three years old.
A spokesperson said: “Following enquiries conducted to date and based on information available to investigating gardaí, An Garda Síochána has commenced a homicide investigation into Daniel’s death.”

Gardaí said they are continuing to keep Daniel’s family informed of all developments in this ongoing criminal investigation.
“All contact will be welcomed and treated in the strictest confidence. Anyone with information is asked to contact Swords Garda Station on,” a spokesperson said.

Gardaí said they are aware of the “extensive public commentary” that has circulated in relation to this investigation.
They are appealing to all members of the public to verify any information they encounter – “particularly speculation, rumours, or theories about what may have happened to Daniel”.
“Please independently verify any content you read on social media or messaging apps before sharing it,” a spokesperson added.
