Toronto police have released images of a suspect wanted in connection with an unprovoked assault on board a TTC train.

Police said they got a call for an assault at Cedarvale Station, formerly known as Eglinton West Station, on the morning of Dec. 1.

A man on board a southbound train on Line 1 fell asleep and woke up to a suspect allegedly assaulting him.

Police said the suspect repeatedly assaulted the victim.

He later fled, leaving the victim with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. They noted that the victim did not know the suspect.

In a news release on Thursday, police described the suspect as a man between 35 and 45 years old with a dark moustache and beard. He was last seen wearing a black toque with a small white decal on the right side, a black-hooded winter jacket, light coloured baggy pants, and black shoes.

Police are asking anyone who can identify the suspect and pinpoint his location to contact them at 416-808-1300 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
