The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed franchise quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell to a two-year contract extension through the 2027 season.

The Katy, Texas native, who will turn 36 in March, threw for a career-high 36 touchdown passes in 2025 along with 5,296 yards and 11 interceptions. He was named the East Division’s nominee for Most Outstanding Player for the second-straight year and led the Tiger-Cats to a first-place finish in the East Division.

“As soon as the season was over, I just didn’t feel like it was over. I took the pads off, and it didn’t feel like I was taking them off for the last time, so I was very, very excited to make this decision. We have an amazing team, an amazing organization and amazing people around us. It’s one of the best locker rooms I’ve ever been a part of, and I love going to work every day,” Mitchell said in a statement.

The six-foot-one, 185-pound passer joined Hamilton when the team acquired his rights from the Calgary Stampeders following the 2023 season. He has started 41 games and completed 67 percent of his passes for 11,778 yards, 74 touchdowns, 39 interceptions in Steeltown, already becoming one of the team’s top-ten all-time leading passers.

“Bo is a proven winner and an elite competitor. His impact on our locker room and our organization goes well beyond what shows up on the stat sheet,” head coach Scott Milanovich said in a statement.

“He sets the standard every day with his preparation, leadership and toughness, and he’s exactly the kind of quarterback you want to lead your team. His command of the offence, ability to process in real time, and willingness to be coached elevates everyone around him. Having that kind of presence at quarterback is invaluable.”

The three-time All-CFL selection, two-time Most Outstanding Player, two-time Grey Cup champion, and Grey Cup MVP has played 207 regular-season CFL games dating back to 2012, throwing for 4,4319 yards, 262 touchdowns, and 128 interceptions. He ranks eighth on the CFL’s all-time passing yards list and became the fastest quarterback in three-down league history to reach 100 wins, doing so in 143 starts.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats finished first in the East Division standings in 2025 with an 11-7 record, though the team lost the East Final to the Montreal Alouettes. Bo Levi Mitchell led the CFL with 5,296 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions after starting all 18 regular-season games, earning the East Division’s nomination for Most Outstanding Player.

The Tiger-Cats ranked third in net offence, eighth in net defence, and first with a turnover differential of plus-ten. The club’s leading rusher was Greg Bell with 1,038 yards, leading receiver was Kenny Lawler with 1,443 yards, and leading tackler was Stavros Katsantonis with 69 tackles. Hamilton ranked fourth in attendance with average crowds of 22,858, which was a 3.9 percent increase from the previous year.
