They are the hottest collectible to find this holiday shopping season, and Waterloo regional police say they’ve recovered several thousand dollars worth of stolen Jellycats.

Police began investigating alleged thefts of the highly sought-after stuffed toys from a store on Ottawa Street South in Kitchener in late October, and then more thefts at the same store on Dec. 6.

About $2,000 worth of Jellycats were allegedly taken.

Then, regional police raided a home in Guelph on Tuesday this week, where they said they found about 140 stolen toys, most of which were Jellycats stolen from all around southern Ontario.

Police said the total value of the stolen toys was about $7,500.

A 52-year-old woman from Guelph was charged with theft and trafficking in stolen property.

Police are still investigating to see if they can find any other stores that were robbed.

Anyone who knows anything about this is asked to contact police at 519-570-9777 or reach out anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
