BURLINGTON, Wash. — All residents in the city of Burlington have been told to evacuate immediately Friday morning.
At 6 a.m., police, firefighters, and city officials said Gages Slough is flooding into homes.
The National Guard is going door-to-door to notify residents and help them evacuate.
Two new shelters opened Thursday night, including at Bayview Elementary.

Earlier this week, Skagit County officials issued a Level 3, “GO” immediate evacuation alert for those living within the 100-year flood plain, including Burlington.
The Skagit River reached a record level in Mount Vernon on Thursday, at nearly 38 feet, but the city’s flood wall held.
