This is the first picture of a proposed new hotel which is set to transform the Donegal coastal village of Rathmullan.

Planning has been lodged for the 37 bedroom, four storey hotel in the heart of the village at Kerr’s Bay Road.

This stunning 3D image has been prepared by William Donoghue Architects.

The hotel is being advanced by Thomas McCarron of Clipfine Limited.

A spokesperson for the developers say it aims to “deliver a landmark hospitality destination that enhances the local
environment, improves public amenities, and brings long-term tourism and economic benefits to the village.”

The architectural design has been prepared by William Donoghue Architects and the working name on the hotel proposal will be the Pier Hotel Rathmullan.

The developers say they are hopeful the project will greatly enhance the local economy with the creation of a number of new jobs.

The boutique hotel will be comprised of 37 bedrooms, incorporating a bar, restaurant, dining area and reception with a view overlooking Lough Swilly.
