A consortium including Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec and AtkinsRealis Group Inc. is set to start building a high-speed rail project between Toronto and Quebec City in about four to five years.
The first phase of construction will be a section of approximately 200 kilometers (124 miles) between Montreal and Ottawa, with a stop in Laval, and will take about seven years to complete. The sections between Ottawa and Toronto and Montreal and Quebec City will eventually be launched in parallel.
