Germany’s Foreign Ministry published a statement condemning settlement construction and calling for it to stop. “This week, more than 750 new housing units were approved in the West Bank. In 2025, almost 30,000 new units were approved, a new record and cause for great concern,” the statement read. “Settlement construction not only violates international law and UN Security Council resolutions, but also delays a two-state solution and ending the Israeli occupation as demanded by the International Court of Justice. Germany categorically rejects formal and de facto annexation. We will recognize only changes to the 1967 borders.”
